Meet Jesus
The first step in following Christ is trusting in the Lord Jesus as Savior. The Bible is clear about how to do this:
Agree with God about our sinful and shameful condition apart from Christ.
Romans 3:23 – All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23 – The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Believe Jesus died for our sins and rose again.
Romans 5:8 – God demonstrates His love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Peter 3:18 – Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.
Call on Jesus alone to forgive our sins, restore our place in God’s family, and give us eternal life
Romans 10:11, 13 – Whoever trusts in the Lord will never be put to shame… whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
