“GIVE YOUR HEART TO GOD” was the focus of the Widows Together Valentine Party held on February 11th. Twenty women celebrated friendship and true Christian fellowship together at Valsa Alexander’s home. Our Valentine Scripture Hearts Tree and Valentine decor filled the rooms with hearts and flowers but our greater theme put the emphasis on setting our affections on things above, not on the earth (Col.3:1&2).

After our full course menu featuring Chicken Cordon Blue, Shrimp Rice, Green Beans Almondine, Strawberry Spinach Salad and beaucoup delectable desserts we partook of some strong spiritual food! We asked some hard questions and discussed the challenges we face daily without a partner and how it is essential to put Christ first in this season of life more than ever before. We spoke candidly of how it is to feel alone from day to day and particularly on holiday occasions, and how this can be turned to a time of Thankfulness and Usefullness (Phil.4:8&9). God wants us to be Content (1Tim.6:6-8), to acknowledge God daily, to apply and share Wisdom (Titus 2:3-5) and to Concentrate on the JOY set before us (Heb.12:12).

We finished off the afternoon by watching the Billy Graham video “The Cross”.  It was a sober reminder of Christ’s sacrificial and unconditional love.

The conclusion is that God’s Valentine to us IS and forever will be the greatest Valentine ever given, our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.
