Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)

May 13, 2021

Shara Chong & Carol Walker
(2022-2023 Co-Coordinators)

MOPS is designed for all mothers of preschool age children from birth to 5 years.

You care for your family, but are you caring for yourself? Where do you find time to recharge? Who answers your questions? Who listens to your heart?

The answer is here at Forcey MOPS! These ministries are here to nurture and strengthen you! Whether you are in the midst of pregnancy, have a toddler (or 2), an energetic preschooler or a student navigating those elementary school years, we are here for you! This is a place that provides the opportunity to make new friends, share experiences, learn, laugh, ask questions and learn Biblical principles pertaining to womanhood, marriage and parenting.

Over the past year our moms at Forcey MOPS came together to provide support, Biblical encouragement and continued community during some rough times. As we look towards what we hope will be a return to normalcy, we are committed to providing this community to all moms of young children.

An exciting part of our MOPS group has been the continuation of our virtual groups. Any moms unable to attend our in-person meetings will be able to join a virtual group and hear the same encouraging messages and participate in the same discussion as those moms attending the in-person meeting. Activities outside of the Tuesday morning meeting times and interactions on our Facebook page will create opportunities for all of our moms to interact and build friendships.

So no matter your situation there is a spot for you in our community!

We meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 9:30-11:30 starting in September and finishing in May.  Virtual groups will be scheduled on an evening the same week of in-person meetings. Meeting Registration fees for 2021-2022 include the $32 non-refundable MOPS International fee and takes into account that virtual members will not be able to participate in all the in-person activities. If finances are an issue, please contact us as scholarships are available!

Over the summer we will continue to minister to our community via virtual gatherings, Facebook discussions and newsletters.  If you would like to be a part of this community for the summer, and/or have questions about our ministry please email us at [email protected].

This year is for the ones who are ready to come alive again. So many of us feel a little numb. We’ve each lost something or felt disappointed over the past few years and now we are needing a new way to move forward. We need a fresh start.

It’s time to toss out our notions that we must do any of this alone, that it’s “too late” to create an abundantly rich group of girlfriends or that the pace of life leaves no room for meaningful connection. Instead, we’ll take in something new, something God is always using to reach out to us: deep relationships.

Having a genuine, supportive, honest group of female friends in your circle is one of the biggest life upgrades. “Ran out of gas? Of course I’ll help push your car, but we will definitely laugh about it for the next 40 years.” Friends to put down as your kids’ emergency contact at school.

If you desperately want this kind of friendship but it feels hard to come by, you’re not alone. Community is such a cliché concept, but the truth is, we are all pretty desperate for it. We know it will make our lives better, and yet finding friends as adults can feel intimidating. Despite our best efforts, we all seem to be in the midst of a loneliness epidemic.

This is why we are declaring it the year of friendship, courage and purpose. Friendships where we aggressively believe in each other, pray for each other and believe the other deserves the world. That is what we do at MOPS. If you’re ready for a community like this, then you belong here. Your best days are ahead of you. We are going to be here cheering you on. And what you can’t do alone, we can and will do together.

Loneliness says… No one really loves me. No one knows the real me. My life has no purpose. I am cut off from God. No one carries the load with me. I don’t feel included.

Get ready, because this year we will be each other’s hype women, ride or dies and emergency contacts when life demands a call for help. You and me and all of us, we go together.

“Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” Luke 5:18-20 (NIV)

Ages two through five enjoy preschool-like activities and teaching. All teachers are trained and have undergone a background check. Each child must be registered to participate in MOPSKids. Children younger than 4 months are welcome and loved with mom at the MOPS meetings.

Virtual Meeting Fee:  $55

In-Person Meeting Fee:  $85

In-Person Meeting Fee with MOPSKids:  $180 before July 1/$200 after July 1

Any expecting mom, with a due date of November 1st or earlier, should register your child for MOPSKids to reserve a space.  (If you are a mom expecting for the first time, contact [email protected] regarding the adjusted childcare fee.)  We want all moms to be able to attend MOPS.
